Potter : five by Teniers : three capital landscapes with figures by Cuyp : three very spirited and fine by Wouvermans : two by Berghem : a capital ditto, by Is. Ostade : two charming sea pieces by W. V. Velde : a grand historical composition of Perseus changing Phineus and his armed attendants into stone, by N. Poussin : a Holy Family by C. Dolce, in his sweetest manner : a grand interior by P. Panini : a large landscape and figures, one of the most brilliant chef-d'oeuvres of Gainsborough : and the celebrated Holy Family by Sir Joshua Reynolds, known by the engraving made from it by the late Mr. Sharpe : and superior productions of the following Masters : G. Romano, Bassano, Parmegiano, L. Carracci, Biscaino, Murillo, G. Poussin, Rubens, V. A catalogue of a valuable and interesting collection of high-finished modern pictures and drawings, framed and glazed : being the genuine and entire stock of an eminent publisher, retiring from business : among the paintings, are The Lord of the Vineyard, and Death of Sapphira, by Opie : original finished studies of wild animals by Northcote : an exquisite small modem of the Storming of Seringapaam, and a ditto the Death of Abercrombie, by R. K. Porter : Howard visiting the Prison, by Wheatley : and various historical, popular and fancy subjects, by Angelica, Wheatley, Morland, Fuseli, Tresham, Stothard, Cosway, Singleton, Benwell, Bigg, Naysmith, Schweickhardt, Jones, Farrington, Marlow, Hodges : the drawings are chiefly by Cipriani, Bartolozzi, Zuccarelli, Hamilton, Stothard, Wheatley, Ker Porter, Loutherbourg, Girtin, Hearne, Sandby, La Porte, Walmsley, Payne, Pocock : also, a small assemblage of architectural and other drawings, framed and glazed : loose prints and books of ditto : a choice collection of plaister casts and busts, from the antique, brought from Rome by an artist : mathematical instruments : skins of vellum for drawing : drawing implements, &c. : a small collection of pictures by Old Masters : and without reserve, sixty copper plates, never published, designed as a supplement to the Vitruvius Britannicus, being elevations of buildings executed by eminent architects : which will be sold by auction by Mr. Christie, at his Great Room, Pall Mall, on Friday, 24th February, 1809, and following day, at twelve o'clock.
