Notes:
This second volume of Fowler's work consists of 27 unnumbered plates (all but the first numbered 1-16 in Fowler's prospectus, with plates [11-21] covered by a single number). Plate [1] is a dedication "To ... Sir Joseph Banks ..." (repeated from the first volume), [2-10] show stained glass, tessellated pavements and a font, [11] is a dedication "To Heneage Legge ..." (relating to the Aston Hall plates), [12] is a genealogical table of the " ... Norman Earls of Chester and of two Saxon Earls of Mercia", [13-21] show stained glass at Aston Hall, [22-26] show further examples of stained glass, and [27] shows "The entrance into the Chapter House at Southwell ... ". The publication-lines are dated between 12 March 1805 and 2 October 1809. The plates were also available separately, and letterpress prospectuses were printed for some of the individual prints. In many cases, examples of some at least of these prospectuses were inserted into copies of the volume described here, following the plates they describe. In the cases of plates [8] and [23] (Fowler's numbers 7 and 12), the prospectuses are called for as letterpress descriptions of those plates in the general prospectus for the work and must, therefore, be present in an ideal copy. These prospectuses each consist of a single leaf, bearing details of the print and its publication, with the imprints of "(Hamilton, printer, Hull.)" and "(Bartlett, printer, Oxford)" and the dates 20 September 1806 and 12 October 1808 respectively. The former is illustrated with a small etching by Fowler, printed at the foot.
