Notes:
Embroidered sampler inscribed "Rose Hannah Hinds finished this work in the ninth year of her age, March 4, 1840." The sampler includes, from top to bottom: the letters of the alphabet and numbers 1-12 arranged in a pyramid; two stanzas of verse; and the image of a red brick house. The sampler is framed by a border of honeysuckle. Various plant and animal forms fill the margins, including strawberries, flowers, birds, foxes, a dog, and a chicken.
