Notes:
"The Imperial Exhibition was the property of the dealer Jean J. Bertels, of Brussels, (d.1792). There was an Imperial Exhibition held the previous year, May 30, 1787. The title page indicates that the second seller, A Gentleman in Holland, was the seller of a collection of curiosities, so Bertels is being considered the seller of all the pictures."--Getty provenance index databases.
