Notes:
Diorama depicting a Victorian Punch and Judy show on the British seaside. The focus of the scene is a traditional Punch and Judy booth, in which are visible the characters of Punch, Judy, and the Constable. The booth is adorned with a poster reading: "Professor Fezzywig's travelling puppet theatre." To the left of the booth is the show's bottler, with Toby the dog sitting atop the bottler's drum. The audience consists of two children: a girl in navy sailor's dress and straw hat, and a boy (in folded paper hat) preoccupied with the building of a sandcastle. The scene also includes the partial hull of a wooden boat; assorted rocks, shells, and seaweed; and a model yacht. The yacht is a nod to Briggs' primary activity as a maker of miniature ships.
