"Fascinated by the human activity of categorising species, I became interested in the cases of Lepidoptera amassed duing the Vicorian era. In these the moths and butterflies are typically pinned and labeled in neat rows. In my own work I imagined these creatures coming back to life and trying to escape from the case. The result is a frenzied mass of moths hitting the glass as the compete with each other towards the light."--Artist's statement.
