Inscribed in pen and brown ink, upper left: "No. 2d | Manner of pannelling the Doors in | the Great Room at Lord Bective's"; upper center: "Manner of pannelling the Shutters | at Lord Bective's | N: B: The back of the Shutts to be only Ogee & flat pannells."; center: "The Pilaster is fixed | Shutter opens here | The Rails of the Shutters are not markd. Mr. Adam not knowing the width of the Shutters | but by a Plan which my Lord sent. The Jaumbs of the Windows appear to be about | two feet 6 Ins wide, which is too much for the Shutter, in such cases Mr. Adam introduces | a pilaster which is fixt & has a very pretty effect, incase the Jaumb is not so wide by three | or four inches as drawn here the whole must be reduced in Proportion. & the top & bottom Pannells | must always be | kept square."; center right: "Framing of Door | Mouldings at large for the | Pannells of Doors & Windows"; lower left: "The Doors to have a lead flush in the middle | but is not intended to be folding Doors." | labeled scale"; on back, lower left: "not to be executed"; various measurements throughout image
