Lettered below image: "Henry Tilson, pinxt. | H. Meyer sculpt. | HENRY TILSON, PAINTER; | Grandson to the Bishop of Elphin. Pupil of Sr. Peter Lely, | And a Friend of Dahl. | He studied in Italy successfully the best Pinters: He died in Loncolns Inn Fields, Aged 36, and was | buried 25th Novr. 1695, at St. Dunstans in the West. Vide Walpoles Anecdotes."
