The workmen commanded by detachments, take these Fascines to places where the Engineers direct for forming the Trenches, & range them for a breast work, while with proper tools they open the Ground. The Workmen are defended by Grenadiers posted near them, & if possible under Cover, & by Bodies of Foot to repulse Sallies. Horse having the Advantage of swiftness are posted at a greater distance behind some rising ground or House, if any be near. When there is an Advanced Post guarded by the Enemy, it is always briskly attackt at the begining of the Siege, & being carried is useful to lodge the Wounded men and Ammunition. the Various Actions represented in these Prints are taken from one of the Sieges of Barcelona, Views of which Places are exhibited in them. -- London, Printed for R.
