Inscribed on verso in pen and brown ink: "Errole Caves | The Figure Opposite that mark'd X in the Cave | called Indur Subba - There are a great Many | Figures in this Cave called by the People Who Shew | Them the <...> Symbols of the Common Hindoo Worship | but which Gungarum [forsees?] to be Figures of the [Scivsa?] | System - He also says that ^ Raja | Veroo or Veloo ^ or Eeloo | was a Disciple | of the [Scivsar?] Who being affiliated with some Cutaneous Disorder & being cur'd by A[..]cutal Bathing in the Water of this Place consecrated | It & order'd These Wonderful Marks to be Executed in Commemoration | of his Relief & to preserve the Sanctity of the Place Which from Him | is continued to be called <...> Verole alias Errole - and there | is a Terab or <bathing> place of Purification ^ by Bathing & Alms | Which is called Scival Terat [Shivalaya Tirth] | near which is a Temple of Mahdew under the [...]iation of | B | Grishmeyshwur [Grishneshwar] | rebuilt by Aliabyhe [Ahilyabai] the Dowager of the Holkar Family. It is said that | the Extraordinary Fort of Doulalabad originally called Davghiri is also the | Work of the above Raja. - This Figure & its Pair is frequently repeated | throughout the fabel"
