Inscribed in pen and brown ink, lower left: "Under the floor & | to the extremity of the passage under the | window No. 2 & am from Grating find them | similar to that at the present cellar wind: | ows for the purpose of giving air to the | small Beer Cellar | The Door case No.8 was taken down at the | old Garden wall to be put at at [sic] No. 9 | The upper part of the present passage | No.10 not to be lowered at present | The rain water pipe w/in comes down at No. 11 | which discharge[s] itself on the roof of the new passage | & from the Gutter upon the work No. 12 with the sewer by a leaden pipe"; in pen and brown ink, lower center: "No break to be made either at A or B | The windows 1.2.3.4 to be made exactly | the same size as them marked 5.6.7 & the same | Glass to be introduced as now is in 6&7 | The Glass in No.5 will notdo as it is totally different | but some of the old Glass may answer the purpose | in the windows No1&2 the | lower par tof the | staircase window | No.8 is to be blanked & the window No[?4] made | the same as No.2,3,&4 The roof of this passage | may rise as high as the top of the present string mark'd C | & fall eastward as much as the cieling will admit of to | clear the windows in the passage mark'd 1.2.3.4"; in pen and brown ink, lower right: "An Arch way to be made at D | similar in all respects to that at | E. The window (which now falls under | the staircase window) in the cellar as | well as the window under No6 & up are | to remain to give light from the passge | inot the cellar (but not to open) by an Iron | grating in the passage ab.t [?1] ft wide & as long | as the width of the present windows No. 6 & 7 | but wthe window under No. 5 or that [?No.8] falls nearest to is in the cellar to be | left [?angled] 9 In walls built on each side of it"; in pen and black ink, throughout, plan labeled; in pen and black ink, lower center: bar scale labeled "0" to "30", 1in=6.7ft; inscribed on verso in graphite, upper left: "New Passage by Butlers Pantry"; in graphite, lower left: "(74/8/14/14) (116) | (IR 93)"
