Engraving with engraved verses. A puzzle-print. A gnarled and aged oak grown on a mound above a small piece of water. In the background the Tower of Windsor Castle emerges from trees. A pair of profiles facing each other is defined by the upper branches, two other pairs are defined by the countour of the trunk (George III on the left, Louis XVIII on the right). Below, the Regent faces the Tsar, and near the ground Wellington faces Blu̧cher. Three other profiles, all looking up, are defined by vegetation and mushrooms near the base of the tree. One of the latter, on the extreme left, appears to represent Napoleon; the other four are presumably, Joseph, Lucien (or Murat), Louis, and Jéröme. Cf. George. - Subject Terms:
