For remarks on dating, etc., see Brown University collection record under title "Chapbooks published by J.G. Rusher of Banbury, England". Pearson suggests "about 1814", Osborne Coll. "ca. 1820", and British Museum (both copies) "1840?".
The six principal illustrations, all roughly square in a frame, are included in Pearson, according to whom they were "designed by [George] Cruikshank, and engraved by Branstone [i.e. A.R. Branston]"; there are four other engravings, one of them, depicting a rat, signed "Fry."
