- "Kings Cross Soundbook is a collaborative multi-disciplinary project that encompasses creative writing, original linocut prints, waterless transfer prints, manipulated sound and video ... Mick Wootton used to live in the area for nearly twenty years and wrote stories about the local people and the condition(s) of their lives. He also drew them in his sketchbooks and went on to make prints and books. Richard Galloway passes through the area on an almost daily basis and has also been drawing there for years. The sound piece overseen by Burt (Niall) Calderon contains many pieces of sound recorded in the Kings Cross area and from people reading excerpts from the stories. One of the ideas for the sound piece is that it should be layered ... One main idea was to use elements from Handel's Messiah."--Mick Wootton, Graphica Creativa website, 2009.
"Burt (Niall) Calderon is the musician behind the sound piece. He and Mick Wootton have made many sound recordings in the Kings Cross area ... The video is made from research photographs and short videos taken by Mick Wootton, Burt (Niall) Calderon and Adam Hogarth, who is editing the material. Again, the video takes the tri-part format, comprising also of animated drawings by Adam and Mick and text, reflecting the huge amount of languages to be heard spoken on the Kings Cross streets."--Introduction.
