Ann Paley was the daughter of John Green Paley and inherited the family house at Oatlands, Knaresborough (York) upon his death in 1860.

Album of pressed ferns collected by Ann Paley of Yorkshire, England. Each of 15 pages contains multiple specimens (from 2 to 12 per page), labeled in pen and ink with the location and dates of harvesting. Locations are predominantly in Yorkshire, including Oatlands, Harrogate, Heworth, Plumpton Rocks, Forge Valley, Kirkham, Overton, Heber's Gill, and Ilkley, with a great number of specimens from Clifton. Other locations in England include Winsford (Cheshire) and Exeter (Devon). A number of ferns are also labeled New Zealand. Dates range from Spring, 1876 to 14 Aug. 1878.
