Binding: gray paper wrappers.
Holograph diary kept by Deborah Lloyd in 1814 and 1816, within the printed Annual monitor and memorandum book, for the year 1814 (and 1816). At the time of writing, Lloyd's home appears to have been in or near Kendal, Cumbria. A great portion of the entries records visits to or from nearby family in Cumbria, including aunts, uncles, and cousins in the families of Crewdson, Stacey, Bragg, Benson, and Fox. The diaries also record her very frequent attendance at Quaker meetings, in many different locations. In the 1814 volume, the poor health of a grandmother is a perpetual topic. In the 1816 diary, Lloyd spends a considerable amount of time away from home, especially in London (attending Quaker meetings at Hampstead, Westminster and Tottenham), and perhaps Birmingham as well. During 1816 she also frequently mentions the company of her cousin George Stacey, whom she would marry in 1818. The final pages of both volumes contain account tables, where Lloyd records her income (predominantly from her parents and uncle William Dillworth Crewdson) and expenses, which include clothing, shoes, brushes, ribbons, and needlecraft goods. - Subject Terms:
