Part of a special section celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Yale Center for British Art at Yale University, and the 100th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Paul Mellon. This article examines three major acquisitions made by the Center to commemorate its founder's centennial: George Stubbs's ca. 1759 Self-portrait discussed by Cassandra Albinson, two volumes of travel journals compiled by 19th century British consul Charles Dashwood discussed by Elisabeth Fairman, and David Cox's 1829 watercolor Pont Neuf, from the Quai de l'Ecole, Paris discussed by Scott Wilcox.
