- Notes:
- A series of letters written to a Mr. Freeman (of Southampton Place, Reading) serving with the Cavalry Division at Balaclava, in the Crimea. The layout of the letters mimics the form of a newspaper, with prominent masthead, date, and price, and with text in multiple columns. The texts are signed by Adela, Charlotte, William, Thomas, and Arthur, children of the Fenton family. The letters describe the family's outings, the Atherstone Hunt, purchase of a yew bow from Buchanan of Piccadilly, archery, and a visit to Crystal Palace at Sydenham. The letters also describe home front activities related to the Crimea War.
