- A collection of hand-colored animal engravings chiefly by Johann Elias Ridinger, with some by his son Martin Elias. Published after Ridinger's death with the addition of frontispieces and introductory text by his sons Martin Elias and Johann Jakob.
In two parts, each with a sepia engraved frontispiece serving as a title page Frontispiece to pt. 1 has no title and bears commemorative portrait of Johann Elias Ridinger and dedicatory verses. Frontispiece to pt. 2 depicts animals and has title followed by volume statement "2ter Theil".
Letterpress sections consist of German text followed by a French translation, each with separate pagination and register, with text and translation divided by an unpaginated leaf bearing list of plates in German on recto and in French on verso.
Plates have captions giving the names of the depicted animals in Latin, German and French.
With wood-engraved text ornaments throughout.
