Subscription for an engraving of The Siege of Gibraltar first announced in 1788, then again in 1791 when painting was first exhibited; it was to be executed by Francesco Bartolozzi. By 1801 the engraving had still not been executed & Copley engaged William Sharp to replace Bartolozzi. Sharp's engraving was finally published in 1810. This subscription announcement then, is later than the one described in BM dated [1790?] that mentions Bartolozzi.
