All the title pages are engraved, either white on black or vice versa, and were issued hand-coloured with a terracotta wash to imitate ancient vases (see vol. 1 p.174).

The illustrations consist of: figures in the text; plates to be bound within the text; plates to be bound in a separate sequence. They are continuously numbered through each volume.
Plates, initials, and head- and tailpieces variously engraved by Ant. Cardon, Nolli, Carmine Pignatari, Filip. de Grado, and Dufrenoi, after Giuseppe Bracci, Filip. de Grado, Edmondo Beaulieu, Gio. Bat. Tierce, Aniel. Lamberti, and R. Beaulieu.
BAC: British Art Center has copy 1 is in 3 vol., with the bookplate of Augustini Courteuille, dated 1738. With a notice in ms. signed T. E. Quecq, 1848, stating that the book was given to him by Alexandre Villain from the library of Charles Percier. With an unidentified armorial on the bindings.
BAC: Copy 2 is incomplete, consisting of a single volume of assorted illustrative matter.
