British Art Center copy 1 bound by Edwards of Halifax (i.e. James Edwards) in gilt-tooled vellum, with a large oval monochrome portrait in the center of each cover, painted in watercolor on the underside of the vellum and framed by a repeated gilt tool. The portraits on the covers -- all based upon engraved portraits within the published work are: v. 1, upper: Holbein -- v. 1, lower: Isaac Oliver -- v. 2 upper: Van Dyck -- v. 2, lower: Rubens -- v. 3, upper: Lely -- v. 3, lower: Kneller -- v. 4, upper: Hogarth -- v. 4, lower: Worlidge -- v. 5, upper: Evelyn -- v. 5, lower: Vertue.
