Proof-sheets first published in Notes and queries, 1868-1870, as 4 and 12 page supplements; widely circulated for additions and corrections, which were incorporated in these "first proofs". The work was discontinued on account of a lack of funds, and, except for a supplementary volume published in 1877, no further revisions were ever issued; the sections "Illustrated Bibles and liturgies", "Catalogues", "Periodicals" and "Societies" which it was proposed to issue separately at end of the alphabet, remain unpublished. - Subject Terms:
