First published in 1611. The text is mainly taken from: Camden, William. Britannia.
With an engraved title page, unaltered from the 1627 edition, the last two numbers of the privilege date altered in manuscript ("Anno cum privilegio 1650").
The maps were engraved by Jodocus Hondius, or under his direction. The woodcuts are by Christoph Schweitzer. See Skelton, description of the 1611 edition (entry no. 7).
Signatures: A-D² 3*⁴ ( -3*4) E-4H² ( -4H2).
Signatures E-4E have engraved maps printed on the inner pages of the fold, with letterpress text printed on the outer pages (aside from the preliminaries at the beginning of each book). Pages bearings maps are not included in the publisher's pagination. Gathering 3*1 comprises 6 pages (numbered 5-8), with a map on two pages between 5 and 6.
"The second booke: containing the principality of Wales:" (leaf Fff1 recto), "The third booke: containing a general view of the kingdome of Scotland:" (leaf Xxx1 recto), and "The fourth booke containing the kingdome of Ireland." (leaf Zzz2 recto) each have separate title pages, with imprint: "London: Printed by John Legatt, for William Humble, 1646."
