Notes:
Abbey, J.R. Life in England in aquatint and lithography, 1770-1860, 360.
BAC: British Art Center copy is the Abbey copy.
Text, with minor variations in the first volume, is the same as that in Life of Napoleon, 1823-28, and it appears the book was issued simultaneously in parts by Cumberland and Fairburn, the latter using illustrations by Cruikshank. The plates by Cruikshank proved more attractive, for later issues contain a Cumberland imprint, the probable reason being that the portraits were discarded for the more lively drawings of Cruikshank. Cf. Abbey.
Illustrations by Ridley & Blood and T. Blood; after W[illiam] Bromley and Phillips.
