Title supplied from Goff.
Imprint from ISTC. "Also recorded as [Basel: Johann Amerbach, for Adolf Rusch and Anton Koberger] ... Ascribed to Amerbach by A. Hartmann (Amerbach-korrespondenz (1942), I, 2 n. 2). The printing, however, seems to have been done by Rusch at Strassburg with types borrowed from Amerbach: F. Geldner in Archiv für Geschichte des Buchwesens, 23 (1982), cols. 684-88. GW dates shortly after 23 Sept. 1481 but manuscript notes in the Sion College copy and in Oates 124 are dated 1480."--ISTC.
Imperial folio, with text and interlinear notes printed in double columns surrounded by gloss. "The printed signatures in this case being of no use for preserving the order of the quires, may perhaps represent the seven or eight presses at which the work proceeded, the number of the presses being doubtful owing to a mixture of the letter h in some of the quires marked b."--BM 15th cent.
"[S]ee GW, [BM 15th cent.], and Fredson Bowers, Principles of Bibliographical Description (Princeton, 1949), 494, for various attempts to produce a collational formula."--Walsh.
"The number of volumes may vary with individual sets, according to how the sheets were bound."--Walsh.
"The first four leaves occur in two settings"--Walsh. In one, leaf a1r begins: "Epistola beati Hieronimi presbyteri ad Paulinum presbyte[rum] de omnibus diui[a]e hystori[a]e libris incipit." and leaf a3v, line 2 ends: "... diuinos libros legimus. i[n]". In the other, leaf a1r begins: "Epistola beati Hieronimi presbiteri ad Paulinum presbiteru[m] de omnibus diuin[a]e histori[a]e libris incipit." and leaf a3v, line 2 ends: "... diuinos libros legimus, in".
