Originally published in 10 parts, with cover title: Picturesque views of noblemen's and gentlemen's seats
"The work is published in parts, each containing two prints coloured in imitation of the original drawings, with four pages of historical and descriptive letter press. Price of each part to subscribers: 12s. non-subscribers: 15s ... Twenty parts, or numbers, will form a handsome volume, in super-royal folio, containing 40 prints. To which will be added a picturesque frontispiece and vignette, with a title page, &c. A half volume of 10 numbers will be finished in 1817."--Cover, part 1.
Abbey notes two versions of the third plate (Sion House): "This copy [i.e. Scenery 395] shows a group of five horses in the background, where in no. 398 two extra horses have been added at some distance to the right. In addition, a tree that hides the central portion of Sion House is slightly higher, and the caption and imprint at foot have been printed in blue, and not black."
