Letter to William Jackson of Exeter in which Gainsborough reveals his process for fixing "white chalk previous to tinging the drawing with watercolors", gives instructions for the construction of a frame which is to stretch the treated drawing, explains how certain colors should be used on the drawing, and describes the varnishing process and the trimming of the final drawing.
