Winter's most important work, giving a complete picture of horsemanship of the haute-école in Germany in the 17th century. Winter traces in detail the various steps in mounting, riding and training (with a section also on equestrian practice for women). The second part deals with the training of a horse for use in hunting and shooting. The numerous figures of equestrian equipment are of particular interest in comparison with those of other riding masters of Winter's time, in showing his modification of the bit to a more humane pattern.
Half title reads: Georgii Simonis Winteri Eques peritus et Hippiater expertus. Oder Wolberittener Cavallier und Wolerfahrner Ross-Artzt. In zweyen Sprachen. The Hippiater expertus was published separately in the same year.
Added engraved t.p. reads: Georg Simon Winters Wolberittener Cavallier
