The set of prints was previously published by Giovanni Giacomo de Rossi, in 1683 (and perhaps earlier), with the present set omitting the "Secondo prospetto" of the Villa Pamphili. The prints in this set are re-engraved, by un-credited printmakers, but closely resemble the originals. Falda is credited as the artist on 11 of the prints, Simon Felice on four.

The volume bound in later red leather, stamped in gold on front covers with armorial of Mark Masterman Sykes, baronet, of Sledmere, beneath the initials S.M.M. Armorial bookplates: John, Duke of Bedford; "Du cabinet de [blank]".
