Most leaves of the album bear from three to five plant specimens. Notes in graphite record the date and place of collection. Early leaves bear grasses collected in Waterloo in July, 1849. These are followed by specimens collected in Germany, Great Britain, and Germany again, from 1849 to 1852. The first leaf bears several plant specimens accompanied by the inscription: "From the bouquet given me by my uncle John Hegan on his wedding day, June 8th, 1852." - Subject Terms:
