- "It appears that everything in the sale belonged to a single person and it can be deduced that he must have been the dealer Josiah Taylor who had premises in Pall Mall. Almost all of the lots can be traced to earlier and/or later sales that also included his stock. He seems to have had many Italian paintings and as yet we do no know where and how he obtained them, although for the most part they must have been recently imported. His career was just coming to an end at this stage and he did not continue much beyond 1836."--Getty provenance index.
