- Notes:
- Part 2 of the "concise history", originally issued as a continuation in 1815, is paged continuously with the original work and has separate title page: An illustrated record of important events in the annals of Europe during the years 1812, 1813, 1814 & 1815.
Sometimes attributed to Thomas Hartwell Horne.
"Copies of this book with varying number of plates up to 19 exist in abundance ... Plates 20 to 23 are, however, of extreme rarity, and it will be notice from the artist, the engraver, and the publisher that it [i.e., what Abbey calls the "Third part," containing plates 20-23] was sold as a separate entity. The fact, however, that a few copies have been seen bound as part of the Bowyer publication points to the supposition that Bowyer took over a number of copies for inclusion, and then cancelled them when the news arrived of Napoleon's escape from Elba. This is, of course, only surmise, but it appears a reasonable explanation for the disappearance of four plates that are among the finest aquatints of the period."--Abbey. The final four plates are signed: "Drawn by Capt. James Weir. Engraved by F. Jukes. London, Published by Jas. Daniell, 480, Strand, April, 1814."
