Manuscript diary, sketchbook, and translation of Virgil, by Rev. Charles Thomas Dawes, of Cannock, vicar of Dilhorne. The sketchbook comprises about 40 pages of drawings, primarily caricatures, in pen and black ink. The drawings are informal and record family visits, a croquet game, a picnic, ballooning etc. The diary commences in March 1816, recording his ordination by the Bishop of Norwich, and continues with a record of personal and church events, concluding in 1844. Also included is a manuscript of Virgil's Aeneid (book V).
