Inscribed at front: "1864 Leicestershire w. M.B. (?) + Warwickshire to [illegible]; Walmer w. McRo. 1865 Lancing."
Bound in black half roan and olive cloth.
Album of 24 drawings of English landscapes and villages, primarily in Leicestershire, Warwickshire, and Northamptonshire, by an unidentified artist, 1864-1865. There is one drawing in pen and black ink; the remainder are in graphite, with gouache. All are neatly finished and demonstrate relative skill. All but one of the drawings are captioned, and about half are dated. The artist shows a preference for rural or antiquarian subjects, including timber-framed domestic structures and early churches or castles, some of which are now in ruin.
