Scope and Content:
"Dear Mr. Redgrave, I ascertained from Mr Hoyby[?] that you were so kind as to interest yourself very warmly in my favour a short time hence, when some friends of mine were supporting my case as an applicant for the benefits of the Lather[?] fund at the Royal Academy - I consider the support you gave me as extremely generous - as it was given unsolicited by me - and I beg you to accept my warmest thanks for your kindness, and sympathy - I am sorry I was unsuccessful - as it [...] all the valuable efforts of my friends seemingly profitless, except indeed in showing how more kindness & good feeling [...] than one had any right to expect. With every hope that you have found consolations in your surroundings - for the affliction that has fallen upon you - & with my most grateful thanks to you. I am dear sir, Yours very faithfully, Geo. A. Stewart."
